Jules Swales, British Born Writer & Poet
I was born and raised in England, UK. In 1990 I came to the USA and knew I had found home. I live in Venice Beach, California with a small rescue terrier called Daizee.
I am a poet and writer of I Want A Stonehenge Life. I’ve had various poems and articles published, and I used to teach writing at Venice High School, working with students who are part of their POPS the club program.
I’ve studied Method Writing with Jack Grapes for over 15 years and I’m thrilled to now teach the original Jack Grapes’ Method Writing© Virtual Program. My courses will guide you to find your voice and developing new adventures in the craft of writing.
“I’m driven by humor, tenacity, compassion, and a deep desire to support others”
Why I Teach Jack Grapes’ Method Writing©
All my life I have had a need to write. Even as a child it was the first thing I did when I felt hurt or upset, it still is. But I never thought of myself as a creative person. Other people had the creativity gene I just wrote in journals.
I wonder why we are all so quick to discount our creativity. To say, “I’m not a creative person,” or “I don’t write, wouldn’t know where to start,” or “I don’t have what it takes.” Like creativity is something we either have or don’t have.
When I began the exercises and concepts of Jack Grapes’ Method Writing© a light went on inside me. A creative light. I found my unique voice, and I was shocked and amazed.
I am less technical and more focused on helping you explore your creative genius. Although my framework is method writing, what I am really doing is teaching you how to express yourself in a new way.
“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique…”
– Martha Graham to Agnes de Mille
