Hi, my name is Jules. I was born and raised in England, UK. In 1990 I came to the USA on vacation and knew I had found home. I live in Venice Beach, California.

I have over two decades of psychology training and I’m a spiritual scholar. What interests me is that moment where spirituality and psychology meet. I believe that religion and psychological nuances are simply sign posts to a greater understanding. I strive to live there.

For years I searched for answers to why worried all the time, why I hurt so much inside regardless of my success, why I struggled in relationships, and why, in the past, I used alcohol to drown stress or to induce social confidence.

Learning about Sydney Banks’ “Three Principles” changed my life. I now understand where my discontent comes from and how it is formed. All my relationships, even the challenging ones, have changed for the better. Because I have changed. And when the usual human challenges, judgments, and annoyances show up I know how to release myself from them quickly and with ease.

I don’t analyze nor am I interested in concepts. I’m interested in facts not beliefs, because at the end of the day all beliefs come from our thinking. I ask people to look beyond what they think to the fact “that” they think. That “thought” is the most powerful tool in our human tool belt we just don’t know how to use it.

“Thought is not reality; yet it is through Thought that our realities are created.” – Sydney Banks

Why Writing?

All my life I have had a need to write. It was the first thing I did when I felt hurt or upset, it still is. But I never thought of myself as a creative person. Other people had the creativity gene I just wrote in journals.

But when I began the exercises and concepts of Jack Grapes’ “Method Writing” a light went on inside me. A creative light. And when I found my unique voice, I was shocked and amazed.

Why Writing Classes?

I was driving home from work one day at the end of summer 2015. Anne Lamott’s audio disk, “Bird by Bird,” was playing. I almost crashed my car when I heard her say, “If you want to write more start a writers group.” Just a couple of days before I’d been thinking of ways I could support myself writing more. Within hours of getting home I reached out to some amazing writers and we’ve been meeting weekly since then.

Now I am thrilled to teach the Jack Grapes’ “Method Writing” Virtual Program. The program supports each person in finding their own voice and developing new adventures in the craft of writing.

I am less technical and more focused on helping you explore your creative genius. Although my framework is method writing, what I am really doing is teaching you how to feel more alive. I’m driven by humor, tenacity, compassion, and a deep desire to support others.
